Acupuncture for Animals

What is Pet Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the procedure of inserting very fine needles into specific nerve points on the body to relieve pain and treat disease.

Why Pet Acupuncture?

Dr. Ruppel most commonly uses veterinary acupuncture for arthritis, paresis/paralysis and gastrointestinal disorders. Acupuncture is also shown to be effective in alleviating a whole range of metabolic, traumatic, arthritic, and neurological problems, including infections, immune disorders, heart problems, liver disorders, kidney failure, hip dysplasia, anemia, back problems and asthma.

Do I still need to see my regular veterinarian?

Yes. Acupuncture complements but does not eliminate the need for veterinary care. For example, acupuncture helps animals better prepare for and recover from surgery and other interventions, such as chemotherapy or radiation. If your pet has a chronic condition requiring regular medication, acupuncture can help that medication work, ease its side effects, and even lessen your pet’s need for medication.
